Umkhanyakude's First Ubukhosi Bethu Celebration
In 2024, at the request of Inkosi T.M. Gumede, District Chairperson of the Local House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders (LHTKL), we assisted in coordinating, facilitating, and arranging the first-ever Ubukhosi Bethu Celebration for the Umkhanyakude District, KwaZulu-Natal.
This landmark event brought together all 18 Amakhosi of the district to address the public collectively for the first time. With no budget allocation from CoGTA or the four local municipalities, we attended planning meetings with CoGTA officials, municipal representatives, and traditional leaders, and secured both cash and in-kind sponsorships to make the celebration possible.
Cash sponsors included: RZT Zelpy 4600 (Pty) Ltd, Jozini Motor Spares, Hyper Tech Graphics (Pty) Ltd, J Zee Hair & Cosmetics, and Shadigo Trading and Projects (Pty) Ltd.
In-kind supporters included: 1KZN TV (event coverage), Adonai Fish & Chips Jozini, Hyper Tech Graphics (Pty) Ltd, Mkhuze Inn, Trust Mart Jozini, Shoprite Jozini (soup kitchen truck), and Wetland Water (purified water refills and branded bottled water).

The event was a major success, drawing over 5,000 attendees, including members of the Zulu Royal Family, ministers, senior government officials, Swazi royalty, and local mayors. It has since become an annual cultural highlight for the district.
